These ID Protection Terms and Conditions ("ID Protection Terms") govern your enrollment in and use of ID Protection, which is offered by Blend Financial, Inc. d/b/a Origin ("Origin," "we," "us," or "our").
These ID Protection Terms supplement the Origin Subscription Terms and Conditions ("Subscription Terms"), the Origin Terms of Use, and the Origin Privacy Policy, which together form your agreement with Origin about ID Protection. If these ID Protection Terms conflict with the Subscription Terms or Terms of Use regarding ID Protection, these ID Protection Terms control.
1. Eligibility
To enroll in ID Protection, you must:
- be at least 18 years old;
- reside in the United States, including its territories; and
- have an active, paid Origin subscription that you purchased directly from Origin. Origin subscriptions provided through an employer or other third party, and free or complimentary Origin subscriptions, do not qualify.
You need an active Origin subscription to access ID Protection in the Origin app. Section 14 explains what happens if your Origin subscription ends while your ID Protection subscription is active.
ID Protection is an individual membership. It covers only the person named on the Origin account that enrolls, and does not cover spouses, domestic partners, or other family or household members.
You may use ID Protection only for yourself. You may not enroll or monitor another person. You must provide accurate, complete, and current information; inaccurate information may prevent monitoring, alerts, restoration, or insurance benefits from working correctly.
2. What Origin Protect Includes
Depending on your plan, ID Protection may include:
- dark-web and data-breach monitoring of your email address and of any additional identifiers you choose to add, such as your Social Security number, driver’s license number, or payment card numbers;
- Social Security number monitoring, if you choose to provide your Social Security number and turn on this feature;
- data-broker and people-search-site scans and removal requests;
- identity-theft alerts;
- identity-restoration assistance;
- identity-theft insurance, currently up to $3,000,000 per 12-month period, subject to the limits, sublimits, and exclusions in your Summary of Benefits (defined below); and
- other features identified when you enroll.
Certain features are provided by third-party service providers, currently Array US, Inc. ("Array") (identity-theft insurance enrollment, identity restoration, and Social Security number monitoring), Constella Intelligence (dark-web and data-breach monitoring), and Optery (data-broker scans and removals). We may change our service providers from time to time. Features may vary by plan, eligibility, and provider availability.
Exposure checks before you enroll. Origin may offer a free, one-time check of whether your information appears in data breaches or on data-broker sites before you enroll in ID Protection. Those checks are described in the Origin Privacy Policy and in any disclosures shown when you request them. They do not include ongoing monitoring, removal requests, restoration, or insurance, which are available only to ID Protection members.
ID Protection is not investment advice and is not a service of Origin Investment Advisory LLC, Origin’s registered investment adviser affiliate.
3. Monitoring Limitations
D Protection cannot prevent all identity theft, fraud, or data breaches, and may not detect every event involving your identity. Monitoring results may be incomplete, delayed, inaccurate, or unavailable, and some alerts may relate to another person with similar information. To protect your information, our providers return breach results in partially masked form.
Data brokers may reject or fail to complete removal requests, and removed information may reappear. Origin does not control data brokers, breach sources, or public records. You remain responsible for reviewing your financial accounts, credit reports, and alerts, and for responding promptly to suspected fraud.
4. How We Use and Share Your Information
ID Protection uses your name, email address, date of birth, and city and state of residence, and any additional identifiers you choose to add for monitoring, such as your Social Security number, driver’s license number, or payment card numbers. Adding additional identifiers is optional, but some features, such as Social Security number monitoring, will not work without them. We collect, use, disclose, and retain this information as described in the Origin Privacy Policy.
When you enroll, you direct us to disclose your information to our service providers as needed to provide the features you request, including to:
- search breach, dark-web, public-record, and data-broker sources for information about you;
- monitor that information and send you alerts;
- submit opt-out and removal requests to data brokers on your behalf;
- enroll you in the identity-theft insurance benefit; and
- support identity restoration and insurance claims.
Our providers return results to us, such as the source and date of a breach, the types of data exposed (in partially masked form), the status of removal requests, and, for data-broker scans, images of data-broker pages that display your information. Insurance claims are submitted directly to the Insurer (defined below), and Origin does not receive your claims information.
We store ID Protection information, including results returned by our providers, separately from your core Origin profile. When ID Protection ends, we stop ongoing monitoring and removal requests and end your enrollment with our providers, although our data-broker scanning provider may keep a basic free account for you. We keep your ID Protection information, including past results, so that it is available if you re-enroll, for up to seven years after your ID Protection membership ends, and then delete it. When you delete your Origin account, we end your enrollment with our providers, delete your ID Protection information, and instruct our providers to delete it, subject to any retention required by law.
We use this information to provide, maintain, secure, and improve ID Protection and to detect and prevent fraud. We do not sell your Social Security number or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Our service providers may provide their own privacy notices.
5. Data-Broker Removal Authorization
You appoint Origin and its service providers, and their employees and agents, as your limited agent and personal representative solely to submit and manage opt-out and removal requests. Under this limited authorization, Origin and its providers may:
- obtain information about you from data brokers;
- submit your information to data brokers to identify matching records;
- communicate with data brokers and other third parties on your behalf;
- agree to terms and conditions that data brokers impose on opt-out or removal requests;
- complete and sign documents reasonably needed for those requests; and
- take other reasonable steps to process those requests.
Some removals may require separate authorization, identity verification, or action by you.
6. Identity Restoration
If you experience or suspect identity theft while your ID Protection membership is active, including during a free trial and through the end of a paid term after you cancel, restoration specialists provided by Array or its providers can help. To request restoration assistance, call 1-833-568-6249, which is also shown in the ID Protection section of the Origin app. Restoration specialists can also help you start an insurance claim and answer questions about your insurance benefits. Restoration services do not guarantee that an identity-theft event will be resolved, and you may need to provide documents, sign authorizations, or contact financial institutions.
Restoration services are separate from insurance. Getting restoration help does not mean an insurance claim is covered or has been filed.
7. Identity-Theft Insurance
Every eligible ID Protection membership automatically includes identity-theft insurance. The insurance cannot be purchased separately, and Origin does not charge a separate premium for it; the benefit is included in the ID Protection subscription price.
The insurance is provided under a group policy issued to Array and underwritten by the insurance company identified in your Summary of Benefits (the "Insurer"). The Insurer, or an administrator it designates, administers the insurance and handles all claims.
Origin is not the insurer, does not underwrite, issue, or administer insurance, does not decide or pay claims, and does not guarantee claim approval. Origin is not acting as your insurance agent, broker, or advisor.
Your benefits are described in the Identity Fraud Financial Reimbursement Terms and Conditions or other summary of benefits provided by the Insurer ("Summary of Benefits"), available in the ID Protection section of the Origin app. If you reside in New York or Texas, your benefits are described in a state-specific certificate of insurance, which you may request by calling 1-833-568-6249 or emailing support@useorigin.com, and references in these ID Protection Terms to the Summary of Benefits include that certificate. The Summary of Benefits does not include every term of the policy, and your benefits are subject to all terms, conditions, and exclusions of the policy. To request a copy of the policy, call 1-833-568-6249 or the Insurer at the number listed in your Summary of Benefits. If these ID Protection Terms or any Origin materials conflict with the Summary of Benefits or the policy, the Summary of Benefits and the policy control.
8. Summary of Insurance Benefits
This summary highlights key features and limitations of the Summary of Benefits in effect as of the Last Updated date above. It does not replace the Summary of Benefits, and if the Summary of Benefits changes, the updated Summary of Benefits controls.
Limits. The Insurer currently will pay up to $3,000,000 in total for all covered losses per membership in any 12-month period. The following benefits count toward that limit and are not in addition to it:
- Cash Recovery: up to $1,000,000 for unrecoverable funds taken through unauthorized electronic fund transfers from personal financial accounts, and for certain card deductibles; and
- Investment and Health Savings Account Cash Recovery: up to $1,000,000 for unrecoverable funds taken through unauthorized electronic transfers from eligible retirement, brokerage, and health savings accounts.
Each cash recovery benefit is limited to one occurrence in any 12 consecutive months. Other covered expenses may include costs of re-filing credit applications, credit reports, credit freezes, notarization, postage, replacement identification documents, lost base wages, child or elder care, and certain legal, investigator, and accountant fees (capped at $125 per hour).
When losses are covered. A loss is covered only if its occurrence date–the earliest date on which you could have discovered it–falls during your membership. Losses discovered after your membership ends are not covered, even if the fraud happened during your membership. Losses from identity fraud discovered before the policy took effect are excluded.
Key exclusions include, among others:
- losses from fraud or dishonest acts by you or anyone acting with you;
- losses from voluntarily giving someone your card, PIN, password, or other access device;
- losses while you are not an active member;
- losses from business activities;
- indirect or consequential losses and investment performance losses;
- cryptocurrency and other digital-currency losses under the cash recovery benefits; and
- transfers from investment or health savings accounts where you did not turn on two-factor or other authentication offered by the account provider.
Recover from your institution first. Cash recovery benefits do not cover funds you did not first seek to recover from your bank or account provider, or funds reimbursed from another source. The insurance is also excess over any other insurance that covers the same loss.
9. When Insurance Coverage Starts and Ends
Insurance coverage begins immediately when you enroll in ID Protection, including when you enroll in a free trial. During a free trial, insurance coverage applies, and if you cancel during the trial, all benefits, including insurance, end immediately.
If you cancel a paid ID Protection subscription, insurance coverage continues until the end of your current paid term and then ends. Coverage also ends when your ID Protection membership ends for any other reason, or if the policy terminates. Origin will notify you if the policy terminates.
10. Filing an Insurance Claim
To start a claim, call 1-833-568-6249, and a restoration specialist will help you submit it to the Insurer. You may also contact the Insurer directly at the number listed in your Summary of Benefits. If you discover a loss that may be covered, you must:
- notify the appropriate authorities and affected financial institutions;
- give notice of the loss to the Insurer as soon as practicable after you discover it;
- file a police report if the loss involves a violation of law, and include a copy with your claim;
- submit detailed, sworn proof of loss to the Insurer within the time required by your Summary of Benefits (currently within 60 days after discovery);
- report cash recovery losses to the Insurer within the time required by your Summary of Benefits (currently within 90 days of discovery), with documentation from your financial institution that the funds were taken fraudulently and cannot be recovered; and
- cooperate with the Insurer, keep receipts and records, and forward any legal papers you receive.
Do not admit liability, make payments, or incur expenses you expect to claim without the Insurer’s prior written consent, or you may bear those costs yourself. The Summary of Benefits controls all claim deadlines and procedures. Origin can help direct you to the right claims resource but cannot file a claim for you or decide coverage.
11. Plans, Charges, and Payment
ID Protection is a separate annual subscription in addition to your Origin subscription. The annual price and included features will be shown before you enroll. You will be charged the full annual price, plus applicable taxes, when you enroll (or, if you start a free trial, when your trial ends) and at the start of each annual renewal period until you cancel. Any monthly price shown is for comparison only; ID Protection is not billed monthly. Prices and promotional offers may vary among users and over time.
By enrolling, you authorize Origin to charge the payment method identified at checkout.
Backup bank account. If you authorize it at checkout, Origin may debit your linked bank account by ACH for the ID Protection amount then due if a charge to your primary payment method fails. You may revoke this authorization in your account settings or by emailing support@useorigin.com at least three business days before the next scheduled payment.
12. Automatic Renewal
Your ID Protection subscription renews automatically at the end of each annual term unless you cancel before the renewal date. If your Origin subscription ends, we will turn off automatic renewal of your ID Protection subscription. At renewal, Origin will charge your payment method the then-current annual price plus applicable taxes. We will send required renewal reminders and other notices electronically, including in the Origin app or by email.
13. Free Trials and Promotions
Origin may offer free trials or promotional terms. The trial length, eligibility, price after the trial, and charge date will be shown before you enroll. Unless you cancel before the disclosed deadline, your trial converts to a paid annual subscription automatically, and Origin will charge the payment method identified at enrollment on the disclosed charge date. If you cancel ID Protection during a free trial, or if you cancel your Origin subscription or turn off its automatic renewal during your ID Protection free trial, your trial and all associated benefits, including insurance, end immediately.
14. Cancellation
You may cancel ID Protection at any time in your account settings or by emailing support@useorigin.com, without canceling your Origin subscription. Canceling a paid ID Protection subscription turns off automatic renewal and takes effect at the end of your current annual term, and your benefits, including insurance, continue until then. Canceling during a free trial takes effect immediately.
If your Origin subscription ends while your paid ID Protection subscription is active, we will turn off automatic renewal of ID Protection, and your ID Protection subscription will end at the end of its current annual term. Your ID Protection benefits, including insurance, continue until then, but you need an active Origin subscription to access ID Protection in the Origin app. If this happens, contact support@useorigin.com. We may, in our discretion, extend your Origin subscription or otherwise restore your access to ID Protection for the rest of your ID Protection term, but we are not required to do so.
Except as required by law, ID Protection fees are non-refundable.
15. Price and Service Changes
Origin may change ID Protection’s price or features. A price change applies no earlier than your next renewal after required notice. We may add, modify, replace, suspend, or discontinue features, and will give notice when required by law. If a provider stops providing a feature, Origin may replace it with a reasonably similar feature. Insurance benefits may change only as the policy and applicable law permit, and we will notify you of material changes to your insurance benefits.
16. Alerts and Communications
You consent to receive service alerts and communications about ID Protection, including monitoring alerts, exposure reports, removal updates, payment notices, renewal reminders, and insurance notices. ID Protection alerts are currently delivered in the Origin app, so you should check the app regularly. We may also send alerts and other communications by email, push notification, or another method you select. Delivery is not guaranteed and may be delayed. Marketing text messages remain subject to any separate consent required.
17. Third-Party Services
Some ID Protection features are provided by third parties and may be subject to additional terms, privacy notices, insurance documents, or authorizations. Origin is not responsible for a data broker’s refusal of a removal request or for the accuracy of third-party data. The limitations in the Subscription Terms apply to the extent the law allows, and nothing in these ID Protection Terms limits any right that cannot lawfully be waived.
18. Suspension and Termination
If a payment for ID Protection fails, we may try to collect it during a grace period (currently up to 21 days). ID Protection, including insurance coverage, remains active during the grace period unless we cancel it earlier. If your Origin subscription ends during the grace period, we will stop trying to collect payment and cancel ID Protection. If we cannot collect payment, we will cancel ID Protection, and all of your ID Protection benefits, including insurance coverage, end on the date we cancel it. Origin may also suspend or terminate ID Protection if you become ineligible; information you provided is materially inaccurate; your use violates these ID Protection Terms or applicable law; continued service creates security, fraud, or legal risk; or a required third-party service becomes unavailable. When ID Protection ends, your benefits end, including insurance coverage for losses discovered afterward.
19. Governing Terms
The dispute-resolution, governing-law, disclaimer, limitation-of-liability, electronic-communications, and general provisions of the Subscription Terms apply to these ID Protection Terms. Those provisions do not govern your rights against the Insurer under the policy, which are governed by the Summary of Benefits and the policy.
