What We Covered

Why Forecasting Is a Game-Changer

Tyler kicked things off with a universal truth: Life is full of big decisions that come with financial consequences. The Forecasting tool is designed to help you answer questions like:

  • What if I take a sabbatical?
  • What if I want to buy a house next year?
  • Can I retire early?

By projecting your cash flow and net worth years into the future, you can stop guessing and start planning.

How the Tool Works (Live Demo)

The heart of the session was a walkthrough of the Forecasting tool in action. Tyler built a real scenario using a sample Origin account to show how you can:

  • Create multiple financial forecasts (with different goals, like buying a home or retiring early)
  • See side-by-side comparisons of how those decisions affect your finances over time
  • Easily update scenarios with changing income, expenses, or savings goals

From there, the tool automatically updates your long-term projections — no spreadsheets needed.

Tyler also emphasized that each forecast builds off your real Origin data, meaning you’re not starting from scratch; you’re building on your actual financial life.

Pro Tips from Tyler

During the session, Tyler shared some excellent tips for making the most of Forecasting:

  • Stress-test decisions: Try forecasting best-case and worst-case scenarios to understand your range of outcomes.
  • Use it often: Your life changes, and your forecast should evolve with it. Update when your goals, income, or priorities shift.
