2025 Money Rewind: Review your year in money with Origin

The holidays are a season of surplus. You eat more, socialize more, travel more — and, almost without noticing, you spend more. It’s rarely reckless spending. More often, it’s cumulative: small choices stacking up over a few busy weeks.

By January, that accumulation becomes visible. It’s when people pause, look back, and try to get a clearer sense of where things landed — especially with their finances. That instinct makes sense. Nearly every New Year's resolution has a financial dimension — saving more, spending less, investing smarter — especially at a time when everyday costs feel higher, and budgets feel tighter.

To help Origin members start 2026 with clarity, we’re rolling out a 2025 Money Rewind experience to bring their year in money into focus—with real context behind the numbers. Instead of a long list of transactions or a static report, Money Rewind focuses on the patterns that shaped your year so you can tackle 2026 head-on.

What you’ll see at a glance

  • Your Origin journey: When you joined Origin and how long you’ve been tracking your money — a quick look at the starting point that shaped everything that follows.

  • Your spending trends in 2025: A clear summary of how cash flowed in and out over the year, including total money in vs. out, your top spending categories, most-frequent merchants, and how those patterns shifted compared to the year before.

  • Your investing year: An overview of how your portfolio moved throughout 2025, including overall performance, comparisons to the broader market, the holdings that drove the biggest changes, and what your asset allocation reveals about your investing style.

  • Your AI Advisor activity: A recap of how you engaged with AI Advisor over the year — questions asked, forecasts created, and guidance received — showing how often you turned to it for clarity as financial decisions came up. You’ll even see an estimate of how much value you got out of AI Advisor based on how much a CFP® would’ve charged you in its stead.

  • Your baseline heading into 2026: A closing view that brings everything together, helping you understand what carried forward from 2025, what changed, and what’s most relevant as you start planning for the year ahead.

Turning Money Rewind into momentum for the year ahead

Money Rewind is designed to help you get oriented and see what actually shaped your finances in 2025 before you decide what to focus on this year. Once you’ve reviewed your rewind, AI Advisor becomes the tool for turning those takeaways into a plan for 2026.

To get the most out of this experience, use the two in tandem:

  • Review the rewind: Look for anything that stands out — a category that crept up, a portfolio move you didn’t expect, or a shift in net worth that deserves context.

  • Ask AI Advisor to explain what you’re seeing. Instead of guessing, you can ask questions like:

    • “What drove this change?”

    • “Was this mostly market movement or my own behavior?”

    • “How does this compare to last year?”

  • Use those insights to plan forward: With a clearer baseline, you can start asking forward-looking questions — pressure-testing goals, exploring tradeoffs, or figuring out what to pay attention to in 2026.

As the year unfolds, Weekly Recaps and AI Advisor help carry that context forward. You’re not waiting another twelve months to reassess — you’re noticing changes as they happen, understanding what’s driving them, and staying anchored to the priorities you set.

That’s how Money Rewind fits into the bigger picture: reflection first, then ongoing guidance. Now your financial planning for 2026 is grounded in what actually happened instead of assumptions.

Clarity on the past—control over the future

You’ve looked back, now look forward with a clear picture of what shaped your finances and which patterns are worth carrying — or changing — in the year ahead.
